Hugging Face published both an initial disclosure and a detailed forensic reconstruction of the intrusion. As of October 2026, Hugging Face is also publishing technical support for AWS Trainium through the native TorchNeuron backend. Its October 19 report lists 89 compatible top-100 text-generation architectures versus 46 for the former integration, and checkpoint export in standard Transformers format. That demonstrates additional hardware portability but does not settle governance neutrality after NVIDIA announced an acquisition agreement on September 3. This separate capability update does not change the earlier intrusion findings.
The reported 89-of-100 compatibility figure measures architecture support as described by Hugging Face, not an independent cost, benchmark, or model-quality comparison. Checkpoint format interoperability is a stronger and narrower portability claim than corporate neutrality, and a pending NVIDIA acquisition is not itself evidence that Trainium integration will be withdrawn.
On October 20, Hugging Face announced TorchTPU support across Transformers, Diffusers and Kernels. It reported 96.5% passing among tests run on TPU, 19 fixes among 34 reported issues, and nightly TPU CI still in development. This extends the technical portability evidence alongside Trainium.
